Are you looking for effective fire protection solutions for underground garages, charging stations, fleets, or electric vehicle service centers? Contact our team of technical advisors.
The dynamic development of technology in the field of electromobility presents entirely new challenges for the fire protection industry. Modern technical solutions often outpace existing normative frameworks. An example of an innovation setting new standards in the European market is the system ecell-guard – a fully automated solution dedicated to isolating and limiting the spread of fires from lithium-ion batteries in electric vehicles.
In response to numerous questions regarding certification and formal classification of such systems in Poland and Europe, we present key technical and legal aspects.
The ecell-guard system combines two key protective modules:
Certified detection modules: An early warning system and sensors monitoring thermal parameters and the presence of smoke.
Tested insulation blanket: The main element that suppresses the spread of fire and thermal energy, subjected to rigorous fire testing.
The entire system operates autonomously in a complete chain of events — from immediate detection of thermal anomalies and triggering an alarm, to the automatic application of a blanket to limit the spread of fire directly onto the threatened vehicle.
As an innovative technological category, ecell-guard does not yet have a single, harmonized European standard dedicated to integrated systems of this type. The formal status of the solution is based on clear pillars:
European compliance CE: The complete system undergoes the full CE compliance assessment procedure by the manufacturer, supported by a comprehensive risk analysis and detailed technical documentation.
National classification: From the perspective of Polish fire regulations, ecell-guard qualifies as an innovative fire protection device, performing the function of physical isolation of fire hazards (in contrast to traditional Fixed Fire Extinguishing Systems – SUG).
Implementing new technology requires close collaboration with experts. As EVSolutions, together with the system manufacturer, we actively invite fire protection experts, fire engineers, and certification and research units (including CNBOP) to collaborate. We provide complete technical documentation and substantive support in the implementation of pilot and facility installations.
